NPCA Capitol Hill Advocates: Key Issues and Resources for July 21

More than 150 supporters of the Peace Corps are expected to be on Capitol Hill on Monday, July 21st to stand up for service in meetings with their elected representatives.

In the lead up to Capitol Hill Day, National Peace Corps Association’s (NPCA) advocacy program has been sending a series of updates to help our advocates prepare.

If you are among those joining us on Capitol Hill, this news post will provide you with links to all the background information, meeting “leave behind” materials, and other resources to help you prepare. (NOTE: These materials are also available for NPCA advocates seeking/organizing district office meetings or drop-by activities)

Basic Logistics

The Issues:

Issue #1: Protecting Peace Corps Funding in a Time of Budget Cuts

THE ASK: Support no less than the president’s request of level funding ($430.5 million) for the Peace Corps in Fiscal Year 2026

Issue #2: Congressional Gold Medal

THE ASK: Ask your member if they would be willing to introduce legislation to honor Peace Corps Volunteers with a Congressional Gold Medal. (Or, urge them to become an early co-sponsor of such legislation when it is introduced).
