Summer 2025 Rallies and Actions Supporting the Peace Corps

A large number of federal agencies and programs are facing serious upheaval, including significant staff reductions, policy shifts, program dismantling, and, in some cases, elimination.

Although the Peace Corps has so far fared better than many others, it has not been spared. Concerning reductions in staff have created uncertainty about future plans and direction. However, at the same time, the Trump administration has submitted a request to Congress for level funding of the Peace Corps at $430.5 million for the upcoming fiscal year (FY 2026). Meanwhile, internal Senate and House letters signed by nearly 150 lawmakers have urged a significant increase in funding.

We have a long way to go, and a lot of uncertainty remains about the stability and sustainability of the Peace Corps. That is why we need you to stay vigilant and continue taking action.

Our Next Target Dates for Nationwide Action: August District Office Advocacy Meetings!

On July 21, more than 170 advocates were in Washington for NPCA’s Capitol Hill Advocacy Day. We held 150+ formal/informal meetings with congressional offices and delivered information to nearly every office.

National Peace Corps Association is calling on everyone to engage in solidarity actions to back up our Capitol Hill advocates. We urge you to:

  • Keep writing or calling your representatives to demonstrate large and passionate support for the Peace Corps.
  • With the annual congressional summer recess underway,(through August 30) this is an important time to be seeking and organizing district office meetings with lawmakers. Register your meeting plans here.
