Engage your members of Congress locally during this upcoming congressional recess in three effective ways.

On April 11th, Congress will go on a two-week recess, with many members returning to their home state/district. Meanwhile, members are awaiting President Trump’s submission of his Fiscal Year 2026 budget request, which will reveal his funding request for the Peace Corps. This is a moment to engage. From our previous appeals to the recommendations of leaders like RPCV Congressman John Garamendi and former Peace Corps Director Jody Olsen, the action request is clear.

What Can You Do?

Actions in the Next Two Weeks? Help NPCA Reach Its Goal of 150 In-Person Congressional Meetings Around the Country. Here are key ways you can engage during the congressional recess:

  1. Seek District Office Meetings – Formal and Informal: Seek a meeting with the office of your lawmaker(s) to discuss the importance of the Peace Corps. You can also try to conduct an informal stop by the office to briefly show your support for the Peace Corps.
  2. Attend Town Hall Meetings: Attend a lawmaker’s town hall meeting (or attend a community organized town hall) and voice the positive impact of the Peace Corps and the importance of national service.
  3. Share your activity: What to do after your activity? Share your activity with a social media post, including a photo or brief video. Share your post with NPCA.
